BILL GREEN WITH A TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY LANE
SHOW ON ROCK-IT RADIO #2602

Bill Green's "Tribute To The Memory Lane Show" is a special
program this week on the Rock-it. Bill invited Memory Lane Show
host Lane Quigley into the new Rock 'n Roll Retrospective studio
to help give it a test drive. However, Lane didn't know that Bill had
prepared a surprise. He plays songs that Lane introduced
(or reintroduced) to Bill over the years. However, Lane had no idea
which songs were selected until they were played. The result is a very
entertaining music blindfold test that Lane passes with honors.

1. Wham! - Lonnie Mack (1963)
2. Memory Lane - The Hippies (1963)
3. Love Bandit - The Cadets (1957)
4. Funny - Jessie Belvin (1959)
5. On The Rebound - Floyd Cramer (1961)
6. It's All Over - Walter Jackson (1964)
7. Charms - Bobby Vee (1963)
8. Can He Take A Hint? - Kenny Woods (1963)
9. Good Good Lovin' - The Blossoms (1966)

15. It Hurts To Be In Love - Neil Sedaka (1964)

TRIBUTE TO THE OLYMPICS ON RADIOACTIVE GOLD
SHOW ON ROCK-IT RADIO #2603.

On this edition of RadioActivE Gold you'll hear 'The Olympics' Story'
as told by 1st tenor Eddie Lewis--the last surviving original member
of the group. Eddie traces the group's beginnings as 'The Challengers',
and talks about the Olympics songs, and even reflects on 'Peanut Butter'--which was supposed to be recorded by them, but was given instead to 'The Vibrations'who were moonlighting as 'The Marathons.' It was 'The Olympics' who arranged and recorded the first version of
'Good Lovin', and Eddie regretfully tells how 'The Young Rascals' wound up with the hit, even though The Olympics release sold 22,000 copies the first day of it's release and was climbing the charts.

1. Western Movies
2. I Wanna' Dance With The Teacher
3. Private Eye
4. Big Boy Pete
5. The Bounce
6. Baby Hully Gully
7. Dance By The Light Of The Moon
8. 'Good Lovin'
9. Little Pedro
10. Dancin' Holiday
11. The Slop
12. Shimmy Like Kate
13. Dooley
14. The Duck

All the above songs of course were played by The Olympics.
The Olympics have always been one of my favorites and what
a wonderful interview by Eddie Lewis!
If you would like to write to Dave Justice with comments,
hello's or future requests you can reach him at:
radioactivegold@rockitradio.net

ROCK-IT RADIO DJ'S CELEBRATED 10 YEARS OF
INDEPENDENT BROADCASTING!

For many it was a most memorable weekend for Rock-it Radio
DJ's as we celebrated 10 years of Independent Internet
Broadcasting. Though we have been on other mediums since 1995.
It all started on Friday June 27th. As Rock-it Radio DJ Lane Quigley hosted and toured our out of the area DJ's to Hollywood, California and some of the more popular spots and also a visit to Amoeba records to restock on everyone's playlist.
That Friday night Bennie Dingo and Jammin' Jan hosted a dinner at
The La Paz Mexican Seafood Restaurant in Calabasas, California
dedicating the night as DJ Appreciation night and all the wives and girlfriends that tolerate us to do Rock-it Radio.
At the home of Lane and Pat Quigley that following Saturday June 28th was the true celebration -- Lane and Pat are excellent hosts and you couldn't ask for nicer weather. Outside of myself and Lane every Rock-it Radio DJ had to make a trip of at least 400 miles to attend -- It's a true honor to have a great bunch of DJ's willing to celebrate and travel that distance -- and in the
case of Johnny G he travelled about 8000 miles from the UK.
Besides the Rock-it Radio DJ's -- Also, attended to celebrate were Freddy 'Boom Boom' Cannon; Lloyd Thaxton; Dee Dee Phelps (of Dick and Dee Dee); Nino Tempo; and Johnny Hayes - West Coast Broadcast Legend and Rock and Roll
Promoter Dan Tytell.
On Sunday June 29th -- Rock-it Radio DJ's gathered in Studio B at Lane's studio and recorded the 10 Year Anniversary Special of Rock-it Radio which will air online at Rock-it Radio in the next couple of weeks.
Sadly, Rick and Judy Ward couldn't make it to the celebration -- As American Airlines at the last minute cancelled there flight -- And Butchie ran into car trouble but Lane was able to reach them by phone and they were able to be joined in the Recording via Landline.
Since Butchie just lives about 3 hours up the Coast -- Johnny G, Leslie Stevens and Pat and Lane Quigley took the drive up there to Lompoc, California where they were able to visit for awhile. It was a wonderful weekend and will never be forgotten by this Dingo!

JOHNNY G AND THE CRUISIN' SHOW ON ROCK-IT RADIO #2598

This week's Cruisin' show features an almost complete Top 30 from
exactly 46 years ago, but not from a usual source. This is the final
Top 30 from a Swedish offshore radio station, Radio Nord, compiled
on 27th June 1962, just days before it closed down on 30th June
following the passing of the Swedish equivalent of the Marine
Broadcasting Offences Act outlawing the station after barely 16
months on air. The ship itself, The MV Bonjour, would later go on
to greater fame as Radio Caroline's ship, renamed The MV MiAmigo.
An interesting mixture of songs, including some that weren't necessarily
hits in Britain or the USA. Among the records you'll hear a few of the
original melodic Radio Nord jingles & even a couple of Swedish radio
commercials of the time.

Just for historical interest the complete Top 30 is listed here (played in
time-honoured reverse order), although, due to lack of availability, 3 of
them aren't played as indicated by a ***

30. As You Like It - Adam Faith
29. Uptown - Anita Lindblum ***
28. Bonnie Twist - Trio Med Bumba ***
27. Hit & Miss - The John Barry Seven
26. The Twist Set Me Free - Fats Domino
25. Don't Stop - Bobby Angelo
24. Lovers Who Wander - Dion & the Belmonts
23. Most People Get Married - Patti Page ***
22. (Girls Girls Girls) Made to Love - Eddie Hodges
21. Ahuh-Ahuh - Paul Anka
20. It Keeps Right On A-Hurtin' - Johnny Tillotson
19. Hey Little Girl - Del Shannon
18. Ol' Man River - The Spotnicks

10TH ANNUAL EAST COAST VS. WEST COAST OLDIES

LAST CALL!!!!

On June 30th this year's East Coast vs. West Coast Oldies Battle will
come to an end so this is the final notice to come vote and possibly win
some Rock-it Radio Prizes!
It's hard to believe that this year marks Rock-it Radio's tenth anniversary!
That means its time for the Tenth Annual Memory Lane Show East/West Battle.

Every year, legendary East Coast DJ Bill Green comes into Studo B with an armload of East Coast records. Lane Quigley then matches each of them with a West Coast record that has some common thread. Listeners vote round-by-round on their favorites and with their votes, they are automatically
entered into the prize drawing.

So far, the East has won four of the showdowns, the West has four victories, and there has been one draw. This year, you can help break the tie!

For the entire month of June, you can listen and vote by clicking on
Rock-it Radio Show # 2562 on the Archives Page. There are 12 rounds, and as you listen make a note of your preference for each of the rounds. When the show is over, send your votes to MemoryLaneShow@aol.com .
You may wish to copy-and-paste the playlist below into a separate e-mail, mark your choices, and send them in -- or you can simply send a list of your choices, whichever is easier for you.

At the end of the month, five lucky winners will be selected at random to receive some terrific prizes from the RockitRadio Launching Pad, courtesy of Bennie Dingo in Studio A.

This program is always a listener favorite. Lane and Bill have chosen a wonderful variety of terrific records, and they share some great stories and sound bites about the music.

17. Blind Date--Jimmy Starr

It's a great show again and Thanks Dave! If you would like
to send Dave any comments or would just like to say hello.
You can at: radioactivegold@rockitradio.net
Also, Dave is working on some great upcoming shows --
Next week Dave and RadioActivE Gold will be telling the 'The Bon-Aires' Story with Mike Paladino, original baritone-bass singer. They were such a great group from New Jersey and had their run for the roses in '63 on "Rust" records and were produced by Neil Levinson of 'Denise' fame.

Also, upcoming Dave just finished interviewing Eddie Lewis, the soul
surviving member of 'The Olympics.' He's a great guy and told the story from 1954 when the group was known as 'The Challengers' and did their first record, 'I Can Tell' for Melatone Records. A great story with some great Olympics classics.

And next month RadioActivE Gold will be hooking up with original 'Ventures' co-founder Don Wilson to tell their story. The guys there are getting ready for another Japan Tour.
