Rock-it Radio this past week released a new webpage on collecting airchecks or actual radio broadcast recordings. If you would like to check it out the website address is: http://www.rockitradio.net/aircheck.html ------------------------------------------------------------ 2009 YEAR IN REVIEW FOR ROCK-IT RADIO
2009 will go down as one of the most challenging years here at Rock-it Radio. But we are happy to report we survived it :) And now we begin our 15th year of programming. We lost a couple of DJ's this year - in June Roy Harrow from Australia left for Commercial Radio and we wish him all the success in the world. And in October Dave Justice of the RadioActivE Gold show retired from Radio. And we hope he is enjoying a well deserved retirement after several years in broadcasting.
To fill the shoes of these DJ's we added Jackie Bond and the Good Times Rockabilly Hour from the United Kingdom, and Gary Larkin from Pittsburgh, Pa. and long time Radio personality from that city with the House of Wax and Music for Lovers show here on Rock-it Radio. One popular DJ here at Rock-it Radio - Butchie Boy Olmstead remains also in the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, California and has been sidelined from doing any shows, but we wish him all the best and he knows that he will always have a home here with more great doo wop and Blues in his show upon his release.
In 2009 we also created the Rock-it Radio Facebook site and has increased dramatically the rate of New Listener's we are getting worldwide. It has served in spreading the word about Rock-it Radio and the excellent programming our DJ's provide here. At the end of the year Rock-it Radio had 9.652 subscribers to the Rock-it Radio Listener's Club and receiving this newsletter. It is a goal of Rock-it Radio to hit 10,000 listeners by the end of March 2010. A goal that seems quite possible. Financially Rock-it Radio was able not to have to cut back services or shows in 2009. Though our worse financial year given the Worldwide Financial situation.
December which is usually one of our best months proved to be our worse and the monies set aside for advertising of Rock-it had to be ceased and a grass roots advertising took place which still proved fruitful for new listeners.
Though the finances of Rock-it Radio remain extremely tight we are hopeful for a New start and to get rocking for 2010! We have one possibly two new DJ's lined up that we will announce once it is confirmed and we will once again be producing more releases in the Rock-it Radio Launching Pad.
We also plan on building a new webpage featuring the 'Best of' Rock-it Radio shows - featuring special features and artists of the past of Rock-it Radio DJ's and their shows. In short Rock-it Radio is ready, willing and able to continue to hopefully bring you the most in music from the first decade of Rock and Roll. So, Let's get Rocking for a brand new 2010!
OUR LATEST VINTAGE SHOWS ADDED IN ROCK-IT RADIO LAUNCHING PAD SITE Here is the listing of our latest shows we have put up in the Rock-it Store Now known as the Launching Pad.
