Friday February 17, 2006
Rock-it Radio would like to extend sincere condolences to Gold Coast Broadcasting and everyone at KVTA 1520 AM -- Ventura, California's reported passing today of Dave Ciniero. Co host of the very popular local Dave and Bob Morning Talk Show for 21 years here in Ventura, California. In those 21 years Dave Ciniero was never late for his early 3 a.m. shift. When he didn't arrive at the studios of KVTA the staff immediately knew something was wrong. Bennie Dingo of Rock-it Radio was always very greatful to the Dave and Bob show not only for the wonderful local news and programming they did. Dave would break out of the mold and let Bennie do a shameless plug for Rock-it Radio - which was very kind and always thought of as somewhat risky for him to do so. I am sure more information on Dave's passing will become available -- Below is the excerpt on Dave from the KVTA Website... at http://www.kvta.com
Excerpt below is from KVTA Website on Dave Ciniero...
LONG TIME K-V-T-A MORNING SHOW HOST AND OUR GOOD FRIEND DAVE CINIERO HAS PASSED AWAY. HE WAS FOUND THIS MORNING AT THE CAMARILLO HOTEL WHERE HE HAD BEEN STAYING WHILE IN TOWN THIS WEEK DOING THE SHOW. DAVE WAS 58 YEARS OLD. WHILE THE EXACT CAUSE OF DEATH IS NOT YET KNOWN...ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT HE DIED FROM NATURAL CAUSES. DAVE'S HOMETOWN WAS PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND WHERE HE'D BEEN DOING THE SHOW RECENTLY SO HE COULD BE WITH HIS MOTHER AFTER HIS FATHER DIED. BEFORE THAT, DAVE SPENT SOME 30 YEARS IN VENTURA COUNTY WHERE HE HAD REIGNED OVER MORNING RADIO. HE WAS FRIENDS WITH THE MOST POWERFUL AND JUST PLAIN FOLKS. DAVE LOVED THE LITTLE GUY, THE UNDERDOG. HE RESPECTED THE QUIET, UNDERSTATED PERSON WHO GOES ABOUT THEIR LIFE WITH DIGNITY AND GRACE. DAVE CINIERO WAS A TALENTED, BRILLIANT AND UNIQUE HUMAN BEING. THEY BROKE THE MOLD FOR THE MOLD WHEN THEY MADE DAVE. THE AIRWAVES WILL HAVE LESS HUMOR, ENERGY AND JUST PLAIN FUN, WITHOUT DAVE. AND HERE AT KVTA, WE WILL FEEL THE SILENCE AND IT WILL BE PAINFUL.
