Also, don't forget the entire month of November Rock-it Radio show #1883 The North vs. South Oldies Battle #2 will be online -- Where you the Rock-it Radio listener will decide the outcome and have a chance to win some Rock-it Radio prizes. (See below).

=============================================
2nd ANNUAL NORTH VS. SOUTH OLDIES BATTLE WITH LANE QUIGLEY AND BILL GREAN ON ROCK-IT RADIO SHOW #1883.

It's time again for the Second Annual MEMORY LANE SHOW NORTH/SOUTH BATTLE. It's becoming a November tradition here on Rock-it Radio to have Bill Green join Lane Quigley in Studio B to engage in a friendly battle of Northern vs. Southern artists.

Lane and Bill have been doing an East/West battle for the past 8 years (watch for their next one in May), and by listener request they expanded to add the yearly North/South Battle as well.

If you are a new listener to Rock-it Radio, you probably heard the fantastic UK/Oz Battle that Johnny G and Roy Harrow presented in August. If you heard that show, then you've got an idea of how this competition works.

We invite you to listen to the show and keep track, round-by-round, of which song you prefer. Then:
[1] copy-and-paste the ballot into a separate e-mail,
[2] indicate (with an "x" or by highlighting) the recording that you prefer in each of the twelve rounds, and
[3] send the e-mail to: MemoryLaneShow@RockitRadio.net

It's that simple. Lane and Bill really enjoy listener feedback as well, so please feel free to add your comments about the program and your song choices.

Five lucky voters will have their entries drawn for some terrific prizes from the Rockit Store.

The ballot box will be open for the entire month of November. In early December, the votes will be tabulated and everyone who votes will receive an e-mail with the round-by-round results -- PLUS five voters will also get that special "You've Won" e-mail! The results will also be posted in our December 8 newsletter.
Here is the playlist/ballot. Enjoy the show!

A PLEA FROM THE DINGO -------

I hate doing this part -- but it has been a necessity to keep the Rock-it Radio flying. I wish we could stay non commercial and continue to provide the music from the first decade of Rock and Roll here online. The fact of the matter is since we have returned from our vacation back in September -- Our sales from the Rock-it Radio store has been down about 40% -- The expenses of copyright fees, internet bandwidth, advertising, bulk e mail service for this newsletter and everything has been going up in cost. It takes about $1500 to $2000 a month to keep Rock-it Radio flying now. All the DJ's here do it as a labor of love to keep the music alive and are not paid and we are forever greatful to them. We have been out there since 1995. And don't wish to stop. This is where we need your help. We don't ask for donations but we do ask that if you can, to please consider to make occasional purchases from the Rock-it Radio store at: http://www.palmsradio.com/store.html where we feature several vintage Radio broadcasts. Or to visit our Ebay store at: http://stores.ebay.com/Rockit-Radio
Our vintage broadcasts do make excellent Holiday gifts as well. Also, our links to Amazon.com as well helps us out from our websites when you click and shop from those links. In recent weeks for the holidays we will be putting up some extra specials for the Rock-it Radio listener for your consideration. We will also be making a new webpage to ordering Rock-it Radio programming hopefully that much easier and up to date. Thank you all for your consideration and to those that have supported Rock-it Radio in the past.
All the best always,
Bennie Dingo

REST IN PEACE -- HUGGY BOY.... BENEFIT CONCERT.
Meet Rock-it Radio DJ's -- Lane Quigley and Steve Propes.

Rock-it Radio listeners who grew up in Southern California will recognize the name of Dick Hugg "Huggy Boy" - the legendary disk jockey who defied prevailing attitudes by playing r&b music on various L.A. stations beginning in 1951. Sadly, Huggy Boy passed away very recently and a benefit concert has been planned to help his family with the burial costs and medical expenses from his last illness. The donation at the door is a very reasonable $15 per person, and a whole slew of performers will be paying tribute to Huggy Boy. I'm sure many of the Southern Californians in our audience will want to pay their respects.

The show will be on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at THE HOP in Lakewood, California (5201 Clark Avenue). The program will begin at 4:00 pm and run until midnight. People will be coming and going throughout the afternoon and evening, and we encourage you to stop by and pay your respects while enjoying some great music.

Some of the acts that will be performing include:

Tony Allen ("Night Owl")
Jewel Akens ("Birds and the Bees"; "Pleading For Your Love")
Donnie Brooks ("Doll House"; "Mission Bell")
Cannibal & The Headhunters ("Land of 1,000 Dances")
Al Wilson ("Show and Tell"; "The Snake"'; "Touch and Go")
The Younghearts ("Oh I'll Never Be The Same"; "Sweet Soul Shakin'")
Redbone ("Come and Get Your Love")
Ohio Express ("Yummy Yummy Yummy"; "Beg Borrow and Steal")
The Premiers ("Farmer John")
Leon Hughes of the Coasters
The Heartbreakers
A Temptations tribute act
A Platters tribute act

Plus Rock-it Radio DJ's Lane Quigley and Steve Propes will also be at this benefit concert. If you are in the area you surely will not want to miss this show.

Remember, if the show that you want to hear is getting close to the bottom of the list of radio shows, you should tune in as soon as you can. These shows to have a high audio quality require a lot of internet bandwidth and memory.

So, when a new show is put online it knocks the oldest one off the internet server. Usually a show will at least last 10 days, once it is placed in the archives.
